Youth Soccer ProgramsThe youth development program is methodically structured to give all players the proper learning environment they need to improve. The 1st touch Soccer Academy introduces the game to beginning players in a fun-filled environment. Each year, players will build upon the various techniques needed to succeed on the field. The WISC Prep Academy is intended to act as the bridge between the WISC developmental programs and travel programs. Players will experience more structured training sessions and have the opportunity to play against other clubs while remaining in the Williamsburg area. 1st Touch Soccer Academy (2-5 yr. Olds)
Lil' Dribblers (2 - 3 Years):This class is typically a Mommy & Me class. Although there are certain things the kids can do on their own, there are some activities that require parent involvement. We begin each day with a warm-up and stretch. In this class, we introduce the first skills of soccer. It is here that they get their "1st Touch" on the ball. Kicking is a natural motor skill for kids. We have developed games that will teach the proper way to kick, pass and dribble. In addition, we realize that for many children this is one of the first exposures they have had to any sort of structure outside of the home. for that reason, we also focus on teaching them structure and listening skills. One of the more popular parts of each class is at the end when we "Chase the Dog, Bo". Lil' Shooters (4 Years):In this class, we continue to emphasize "Fun and Fundamentals". Not only do we teach them the basic skills, but we have designed fun games that will allow them to practice these skills. Lil' Shooters does not require parent involvement; instead, parents usually line the wall watching the class. We begin each day with a warm-up and stretch. Our coaches continue to promote structure and listening skills in a fun and positive environment. It is here that they also get their first exposure to the "real" game. The kids all look forward to the end of every class when they get to run through the "Parent Tunnel". Lil' Wingers (5 Years):Lil' Wingers has a continued emphasis on skill development in the areas of dribbling, passing and shooting. We begin each class with a warm-up and stretch. In this class, we begin to go beyond the basic skills, focusing on such things as speed of dribbling, specific touches on the ball, moves and trapping. We have again designed fun games which help emphasize soccer skills. We have a real game each week and end each class with the ever popular "Parent Tunnel". WISC Prep Academy (6-12 yr. Olds)
Prep Academy (6 Years) - Formerly Lil' Strikers:Our Lil' Strikers class is now a part of our Soccer Prep Academy. This class focus on skills and drills in a fun and challenging environment. We organize each session with drills that challenge and emphasize a higher level of skill. Here we work on things such as dribbling with change in speed and direction, juggling, passing, receiving and shooting. The kids participate in weekly games where coaches begin to teach team shape while emphasizing the importance of spreading out and passing. We end each session and game with the "Parent Tunnel". Prep Academy (7 - 12 Years):This program helps the players learn and develop the proper technique in all aspects of soccer. Part of the program will concentrate on technical development and ball control. the second part of the academy will center around how to make tactical decisions as they experience small-sided play. the Futures Academy is a two-day-a-week program including one day a week for matches only. boys and girls will participate in matches together. With the recent growth of the program, we have started girls only training sessions.
